The curriculum includes Education in Faith (Religion Studies) and Personal Development, as well as leading to the School Certificate and Higher School Certificate at all levels. It aims to provide education for the whole person, for life now, for responsible citizenship in adult life, and for life beyond this life.

A student-parent information night is held in 3rd term each year to help parents and students with the flexible schooling system and to prepare for subject choices.

Vocational Education is integrated into the year 10 curriculum.

STAGE 6

YEARS 11 AND 12 CURRICULUM

All students follow Religion Studies, a 2 Unit Board of Studies Content Endorsed Course. Other courses offered include the following, however student choice each year determines those courses actually taught in that year.

Board Developed Courses: (These courses contribute to the University Admission Index)

Study in the majority of subjects will involve a single 2 Unit Preliminary Course and a 2 Unit HSC Course.

  • English (Standard, Advanced, Extension)

VocationalEducation at Training Courses delivered by TAFE. These include Frameworks Courses eg Construction and Metals and Engineering which contribute to the HSC and UAI, and Non-frameworks Courses eg Automotive Studies, Child Studies and Hairdressing which count toward the HSC but not towards UAI.

Students may therefore choose whether they want:

  • HSC which also gives them a University Admissions Index.
  • HSC which gives them access to Industry Training Centres such as Business College, Hospitality and Tourism Colleges and TAFE.
  • HSC which is a mixture of these two.

You will find more information on the HSC in the Year 11 and 12 Student Handbook. A student-parent information night is held in term 3 and parent/student/teacher interviews are held in term 3 of Year 10 each year and staff are also available to help students in planning their Year 11 and 12 subjects.
